Accidental HR℠ and Your Company’s Core Values

Ok, so you have a kick-butt mission statement.  It’s simple, clear and concise.  You have it hanging around the office and you remind all of your employees about it at your trainings, but you’re still not sure if everyone is “on board.”

It’s a well-used phrase now since the first reading of Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap…And Others Don’t by Jim Collins– “Get the right people on the right seats.” (And I would add, on the right bus!)

But, how? How does HR move the mission statement forward? How do we find the right people that will “get” the mission and get on that bus?

You’ve found the people you think are good for the company and you’ve got the right mission statement. Now, step two is deciding what CORE values really support the mission you’ve created.

YourDictionary.com defines Core Values as: the fundamental beliefs of a person or organization. The core values are the guiding principles that dictate behavior and action.

At HR Resolutions,  our core values are:
– Going the extra mile for our clients is 2nd nature to us
– ALWAYS do right – no matter what
– Paying our “community rent” isn’t considered work
– HR is FUN!
– We “get it”. (Things aren’t always black and white; our clients do have a business to run.)

Do YOUR employees “get” it? Do they walk and talk the mission and the values? Or do you need some help defining and reinforcing the Core Values of your company?   Give HR Resolutions a call at 717-562-5187 with your questions and we’ll draft a plan to help make the values of the company work for you.
