A majority of businesses have, at best, a brief mention of emergency actions in their handbooks or policy/procedure manuals. Those are generally only aimed at emergency evacuations. But, what is there IS a catastrophe in your business? What is YOUR plan for locating your traveling employees in the event of a national disaster? Lastly, and even more likely - how will you contact your staff if your computer systems fail?
Ask yourself these questions *:
- Do you know what kind of emergencies may happen in your area? In your business?
- Do you know what kind of emergencies may impact your suppliers? Are you prepared with alternates?
- Are you prepared to communicate with all your employees during and after an emergency?
- Is your insurance sufficient to cover business interruptions?
- Do you encourage your employees to have an emergency family communication plan in place?
